Who will become PokahChamp 2019?

Pokahnights
December 13, 2019

Starting on Thursday, December 19th until Sunday, December 22th 2019 we will be looking for the tenth PokahChamp. Every year an invite for the Champ is one of the extras players get when winning a poker tournament in our club. It’s a desired prize you get to cash in at the end of the year. The winner of PokahChamp is crowned to PokahChamp of that year and will take home a verrrrry nice cash. It’s an honour!

What is PokahChamp?

At the end of the year Pokahnights invites all event winners of that year to an exclusive poker tournament. In that tournament the prize pool is made up out of nice extras. This year Circus Poker Club Antwerp has a two-fold prize pool.

Massive prize pool for PokahChamp 2019

It’s the 10th edition of our PokahChamp battle. We’ve had a decade of Pokahnights and we’re not ready to stop here… In december we have a lot of goodies in store for our winners.

1. Prize pool collected by the players

All players that receive an invite for PokahChamp 2019 and want to participate pay a buy-in of 20 euros for the tournament. Normally, in every poker event that we organise at Circus Poker Club Antwerp, there’s a cost (rake) that is taken from that buy-in. Especially for the Champ the buy-in of every player goes integrally to the prize pool. We expect around 200 players on the two starting days together. This means that players will collect about € 4.000 for the prize pool alone(!). In previous years, the PokahChamp winner has always taken home more than 1.000 euros. So like this, you know what you’re going to play for…

2. Sponsored by Days of Poker

Days of Poker, the online Chinese Poker app, has gone live with the real-money version of the app. You can now do in-app deposits. To celebrate, Days of Poker has a nice extra in store. Every player that participates in the PokahChamp, pays a buy-in of 20 euros. If the player also has (or creates) a Days of Poker account, he/she will receive 3 WinterFest Qualifier tickets in his/her account. These tickets have a value of € 2,20, € 5,50 en € 11. For your buy-in of 20 euros you receive 19 euros worth of Qualifier tickets. The tickets can be used in the different qualifiers in Days of Poker for the WinterFest Main Event.

For just 1 euro you can play along with the PokahChamp 2019 battle and you can win a WinterFest Main Event ticket worth 225 euros. Nice, thanks Days of Poker!

Previous PokahChamps

Getting the title of PokahChamp is not an easy task. All the players below have managed to make it. As you can see, they’re all of the male species. Maybe this year, it’s time for a woman to shine as PokahChamp 2019?

In 2010 “Spablitozz” is the first one to win a Champ tournament. “Lorrinho” is the second PokahChamp in 2011. In 2012 “Laureys” (you know him, he’s now a part of Team Days of Poker) put the title on his name. Ivan, “MrGeek”, is the follow-up to Laureys in 2013. “HGeerts” won the battle in 2014. “Babala” was capable enough to win PokahChamp of 2015. In 2016 it was regular “Kiltley” that received the award after winning the duel with AJ. AJ looks like a winning combo because Kevin Vermeulen, aka “Clutchy” won with the same hand in 2017. Last year Christophe Van Roey won the prestigious title of PokahChamp 2018. Every year the PokahChamp of the previous year is also invited to test his luck. We’re curious to see if Van Roey will do as good this year!

Aftermovie by Slash9 Productions

Like every year Slash9 Productions will attend the PokahChamp on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22st of December. The team will make sure that all Day 2 players are snapped on photo. On top of that they will create a great aftermovie. Keep an eye on our Facebook group to check it out!

Program PokahChamp 2019

On both starting days it’s hard to estimate in advance whether there will be room for a side event. As soon as a table clears, it’s possible to start up Sit & Go’s. On the day itself we will communicatie in the Pokahnights Facebook group about other side events.

Saturday and Sunday also the non-PokahChamp players are more than welcome. Next to the second and final day of the Champ we have a fun program in store for the last weekend of the year. Come and say goodbye to 2019!

Can I participate in the PokahChamp?

The PokahChamp tournament is a closed tournament. Only when you have won an event in the year 2019 you’re invited. Every player who has done so, has received an invite through e-mail with all information.

Have you not received an e-mail but are you sure you’ve won an event (with more than 18 entries) in the last year? Check the spam folder of your e-ail. It’s also possible that your e-mail address is not up-to-date in our systems. Ask about your invite next time you’re present in our club and make sure we have your correct e-mail.

Haven’t won an event yet? You still have some time! The last invite for PokahChamp 2019 is for the winner of the last event of the day on December 15.
