Poker Club Championship

Poker Club Championship

February 6, 2020

Another great initiative for our Belgian poker clubs! All thanks to Serge Halpern because he is organising on February 29th the very first Poker Championship for Belgian Clubs. It’s really a national Championship for all poker clubs in our little country. Place to be this time is the Viage, the wonderful casino in Brussels.

New era

Halpern is super experienced on organising self-deal tournaments in the Viage for many years now closely followed by the BPC, Brussels Poker Club. But it was definitely time for something new and exciting he said to us. That’s exactly why Halpern now created the PCBC: the Poker Championship for Belgian Clubs. For the first edition he came up with February 29th as ideal date. Halpern is actually inviting all Belgian poker clubs, so perfect time for clubs to look for their best representatives. Because in this first Belgian Championship we are not only looking for an individual winner but also for the best club!

Serge Halpern is hoping to enter a new era with this project. An era where Belgian clubs combine forces and team up more often again. This way the rather largely spread Belgian club poker scene can represent Belgium on the national and international platform all together.

Which poker club is best honored ?

The Championship allows every club to delegate 4 players to defend the club honours. The buy-in for every player is € 50 and first goal is of course to obtain a maximum combined score for the club. The club with highest combined score – the scores of the best 3 players will count – will be granted the first PCBC title of best Belgian poker club. But let’s not forget the individual winner. He or she is offered a trophy as well. Finally, all club representatives will compete against each other in the big Chief Battle claiming ultimate glory when finishing on top. During the dinner break a nice buffet of € 10 will seduce everyone present in the casino and starting at 8pm a last € 50 Super Battle is served for everyone who’s still keen on playing (and who isn’t?).

Do you want to represent Circus Poker Club Antwerp ?

From the fort of Pokahnights we are actually sending two teams to the Championship. Because not only our live venue Circus Poker Club Antwerp was invited, also our online project Days of Poker got an invite in their mailbox. They have their own team already in line and are used to play all over the country. So the question remains… who’s is representing our beloved club from Wilrijk?

No better way to hand out 4 prestigious tickets worth € 60 each than by organising a regular € 20 qualifier with all 4 tickets guaranteed.  Any amount bigger than € 240 (4x € 60) in the prize pool will be divided amongst the top finishers of course, no worries there. Since we’re not far away from the actual Championship, we have no choice than to organise this qualifier next Sunday 23rd of February in stead of the Turbo.

Qualifier time

So if you’re free on Saturday 29th of February starting 13h30, don’t mind leaving home ground for once to visit the Viage in Brussels and keen on giving it all you got for your favourite poker club, please join following qualifier:

  • Date – Sunday 23-02-2020
  • Start – 21h00
  • Late registration – 22h30
  • Buy-in – € 20
  • Stack – 40.000 chips
  • Blind levels – 10 minutes

So 4 seats to divide and your Chief in Brussels will be none other than: Kristof De Deken. Who are the four players that are up for defending the club honour?

Team Days of Poker

As mentioned before Team Days of Poker is also joining us in the Viage. No need to say they will continue to promote the last real money version of the Days of Poker app while trying to take home all those cool new trophies Serge is clearly so proud of. Besides this they are very keen on meeting everyone involved in organising live poker tournaments in our country. It’s no surprise they have a lot of ideas to start up collaborations between live clubs and online projects, such as our app. Isn’t this exactly why Serge is going through all these efforts? Good luck to our team Chief Kristof Coenen and team members:

  • Lovely van den Broeck
  • Esmee Van der List
  • x
  • y

Qualifier time

That’s right, we are giving half of our usual team the necessary rest to prepare for another big promotion tour AND opening up 2 seats for our regular and loyal Days of Poker players! Some cool Freeroll qualifiers are being prepared in the app for you if you’re keen on joining us in the Viage on Saturday 29th of February starting 13h30.

  • Qualifiers (8) – 1/day, from Friday 21-02 till Wednesday 26-02
  • Start – 21h15 (+ 15h15 on Saturday and Sunday)
  • Buy-in – € 0
  • Game type – Regular OFC
  • Prize – only winner receives ticket to single final

Final time

  • Final (1) – Thursday 27-02
  • Start – 21h15
  • Game type – Progressive OFC, 8-max
  • Prize – Top 2 receive both a PCBC ticket worth €60 (entry championship + dinner)

Both winners must be free on Saturday 29th of Februari and must agree with our Team Days of Poker house rules. So buy-in and dinner is on us, but any prize money you win in the Championship must be divided 50/50 between yourself and Days of Poker. Any individual trophy you might win during the Championship belongs to you personally.

Are you game?
